What is safer use?

Safer use means:

• Only use your own syringes and needles when injecting drugs and do not share used needles.

• Using only your own clean spoon. Many drug service organizations offer "Stericups," a small, sterile pan with a filter for cooking up.

• Using filters only once. Unused cigarette filters are recommended. Warning: filters do not protect you from pathogens!

• Using only sterile water, fresh cold tap water or mineral water for cooking up.

• Always using your own lighter.
